Playfull Parents

The project aims to enhance the understanding and practice of positive parenting through accessible resources, training, and engagement of diverse families. By focusing on playful parenting, it seeks to improve parenting practices and foster social cohesion. The project will develop a variety of tools, including a multi-language resource portal, card sets for parents, and an open-access online course. Additionally, it will offer a training curriculum that will be freely available online.

To ensure the quality of the materials, Local Advisory Groups will be established in each partner country. The project will also conduct “Make It Work” workshops, both online and offline, to broaden its impact. Key stages of the project will feature Multiplier Events to promote and disseminate resources. An international training event in Greece and a piloting process with parents in partner countries will further refine the project’s tools and strategies.

The expected outcomes include increased positive parenting practices, reduced social isolation, and enhanced parenting intervention quality. This initiative strives to create a lasting, positive impact on families and communities by providing easily accessible and effective parenting resources.

Expected outcomes of the project:

  1. Increased Positive Parenting Practices: Through resources like the card sets and training curriculum, parents will have access to practical tools that encourage playful and positive interactions with their children. This is likely to lead to improved parenting skills and better parent-child relationships.
  2. Reduced Social Isolation: By engaging diverse families in workshops and events, the project promotes social interaction and a sense of community. This helps to reduce the isolation that some parents may feel, particularly in marginalized or underserved groups.
  3. Improved Quality and Effectiveness of Parenting Interventions: The training opportunities provided, including workshops and an international training event, aim to enhance the skills of educators and practitioners. This is expected to raise the standard of parenting interventions and lead to more impactful, evidence-based practices.
  4. Increased Accessibility of Parenting Resources: The creation of a four-language Resource Portal ensures that materials are freely available to parents and practitioners, regardless of geographical or socio-economic barriers. This wide accessibility supports equitable access to positive parenting tools.
  5. Sustained Knowledge through Open Access Learning: The development of an online course and trainer resource guide provides a lasting, accessible educational resource. These materials can be continually used for self-guided learning and professional development beyond the lifespan of the project.
  6. Increased Social Cohesion: By encouraging the participation of diverse families and promoting playful parenting as a universal concept, the project fosters a sense of belonging and shared experience, which can contribute to stronger, more connected communities.
